scalextric : plastic + wiring = joy

The single most entertaining day I ever spent was playing scalextric (usa site)with my mates when I was 8. We tied or glued everything we could find to those little formula one cars. Amazingly good fun. We also figured out how to fix one of the triggers after breaking it through sheer slot racing excitement.

Amazingly scalextric is 50 years old. Wowza! For some reason I always picture Madness when I hear the word scalextric, probably because I used a K instead of a C once and got laughed at for spelling it SKAlextric.

Apparently you even get articulated trucks at 1:32 scale to run on those tracks. I want. Ebay here I come!

scale_plans_03_1s.jpgThe websites are pretty cool too, this kind of chart for track layouts would have made us sooooo happy! Even better would be an editable format to let us draw our own in the same style. My track layouts RULED.
